Have you ever wondered how Valentine's Day started?
This is what i've got from Wikipedia :

"Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine. Until 1969, the Catholic Church formally recognized eleven Valentine's Days. The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentines of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and Valentine of Terni (Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae).Valentine of Rome was a priest in Rome who suffered martyrdom about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia. His relics are at the Church of Saint Praxed in Rome and at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin, Ireland."
The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

Just a brief explanation about St.Valentine's Day which is now one of the most celebrated day in the world.

I love Valentine's Day. The word "Valentine" brings me a kind of joy in my heart. I do not know why. I've always enjoyed dates like 1st of Jan, 14th of Feb, 2oth of Mar, 1st of Dec and 9th of Dec. These are really important dates to me. I am the kind of person who will prepare a gift or get my plans ready months before any of these important dates.

As for this comin Valentine's Day, i've got the gift ready early last month.

To me, Valentine's Day is a day to spend with our "the other half". Just spend a good day together. May it be just a simple dinner or a movie. Whatever it is that we do, it does not need to be expensive or different. It will be special as long as the 2 hearts are together.

I'll list down a few things which can be done on V day. Activities which can be done without much sweat and most importantly, inexpensive.
1) Cook a really simple dinner for the both of you. (What i always do - salad, chicken/beef or pasta, chicken soup, ice-cream.Simple yet achievable.Try and make your own menu.It can be fun)
2)Catch a comedy or love story in the cinema. (Do something silly before entering the cinema- piggyback your gf in front of the popcorn kiosk or say "i-love-you" outloud to your bf. You may think that it is really embarassing but i find them funny and these actions work out really well for mark and i.)
3)Have a candlelight dinner. (Before going for the dinner, you may first drop a cake with a sweet and romantic message on it at the restaurant just to surprise your partner later on.Some restaurants serve cakes as well.May save up some of your time if you're going to a restaurant which serves cakes)
4)Stay in and get creative. ( Don't get me wrong. Getting creative means doing something crafty.Maybe the both of you can make a photo frame and insert a really nice photo in that frame. This frame will definitely remind you of the laughter and the fun you had while getting it done.)
5)Have a drink together at a nearby cafe. (With the tight schedule, it is difficult to find solid time to actually "communicate" with out partner. We communicate all the time but how many of us really speak and listen to one another? This is a good time to really share your thoughts and feelings or just sit down and look deeply into each other's eyes. A bit "geli" la but that's what couples do)

These are the few suggestions. These are things we do most of the time. But do we really understand the beauty behind these them?We always take things for granted. We always assume that we will always have each other. We do not always cherish the moments we spend with others as much as we should.

This is a good time to express our LOVE and appreciation to one another. Put words into action.
